Betty Huang
Betty was born and raised in New York City by Taiwanese immigrants. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1996, she attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts. After graduating Wellesley College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, she worked as a legal assistant at Sullivan & Cromwell in their New York and London offices. Thereafter, Betty attended Brooklyn Law School, where she graduated in 2006. Betty is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Taiwanese) and proficient in Spanish.
Betty represents individuals from various backgrounds, ethnicities and nationalities from across the world in assisting them to obtain their legal permanent residency (i.e. green card) through a family petition, an employment petition or a self-petition as a widow or as a battered spouse (i.e. VAWA). In addition, Betty represents in obtaining their non-immigrant visas (including B, K, O, P, U), waivers of inadmissibility (i.e. I-601, extreme hardship waivers), and their U.S. citizenship (i.e. naturalization). Betty accompanies her clients to interviews with USCIS officers in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She has represented clients in deportation/removal hearings in Immigration Courts located in New York and New Jersey and via telephonic hearings in Pennsylvania and Texas. Betty has represented individuals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. Betty has been successful in working with ICE officers from all jurisdictions across the United States in obtaining bond for clients who are detained. She also has also successfully reopened cases in which orders of deportation/removal have already been entered against an individual (i.e. an outstanding order of deportation/removal).
Along with immigration and naturalization matters, Betty is an advocate for women and men who suffer from domestic violence. She has assisted these individuals in obtaining orders of protection from Family Court and/or Criminal Court. Additionally, Betty has helped her clients obtain uncontested divorces in New York.
